A spring luncheon was held at the Badgers Walk Hotel, near Clows Top.
At the May meeting, Bill Aston talked about athletics. A keen athlete for over 50 years, he was a member of Lozells Harriers, and described the formation of the AAA in 1880, its organisation and rules which he has had to comply with as an official and judge.
His present interest is in veteran athletics, for men over 40 and women over 35, and the standards set in five-yearly stages for competitors up to 100 years old.
At the previous meeting, Richard Ovenstone of the Countryside Alliance talked about fox hunting and the foot and mouth outbreak.
He described the work the alliance is doing to assist farmers during the current crisis, and answered questions on other countryside matters.
