WELL, we've really upset the town council now! They're so upset in fact that they've decided we have been too naughty to deserve any fairy lights this Christmas!
And who can blame them? After all, on a miserly housekeeping rise of 48 per cent how can we expect them to provide us with a Merry Christmas? I suggest we had all better improve our behaviour pretty quickly in case our aggrieved councillors decide to write to Santa and tell him not to bring us any presents this year!
Unfortunately, I find it impossible to resist one (last?) naughty comment. So please forgive me if you find your stocking empty on December 25.
Once again they show their utter contempt for the electorate and thereby their utter contempt for democracy.
And what a reversal of logic to claim that those who are attempting to preserve some semblance of decency in local politics should be called anarchists! OK, the Christmas lights are pathetic anyway but I would have thought a successful Christmas season was a major priority for any town body to ensure.
Finally, whilst Adrian Ward's behaviour has no doubt been exemplary I am afraid I cannot see how his return to the ranks of our illustrious councillors can make a wit of a difference; after all, all that has happened is a return to a former deeply unsatisfactory situation. The only remedy remains the immediate resignation of all councillors and a well-publicised election. The failure of the institutions concerned to ensure the public's awareness and involvement in town politics is responsible for this entire mess.
