Malvern Radar 2, F C Porto 2
AN extraordinary match to finish off Radar's season at Victoria Park last Sunday. The home side took to the field and played the whole match with just nine players after being badly let down by no less than five.
Incredibly, Radar led 2-0 until the last eight minutes when Porto finally broke through some extraordinary defending to grab a point.
Radar had a lone striker in Gary Harman, who was still struggling with a long term injury, but his determination rubbed off on his team mates who shook the visitors with a goal on the half hour. Harman did well to hold the ball up before laying it off to Niall Henderson who promptly curled the ball into the top corner from the edge of the box.
Surprisingly, the second half was fairly even with Darren Loader and Russ Brewer covering every blade of grass. Radar made it 2-0 with an unusual goal, Carl Monk's freekick bounced back off keeper Gormley's chest and although the ball went over Loader's head he somehow back heeled it over his head into the net. It wasn't too surprising when Porto did score with two well taken goals from Gareth Hobbs.
A big thankyou to John and Heather at the New Inn. Radar are hoping to run two sides next season Anyone interested in playing or running the teams should contact Steve Harness on 576012.
