Worcester Nomads had at least two reasons to be proud about its activities over the weekend. First it achieved a close victory in Worcestershire Division One against Droitwich, and secondly it was able to celebrate the completion of the second stage of its three year development plan.
The celebration day on Monday began with a comical 'Dads v Lads' match in the morning and, after a protracted lunch during which Bill Jones as an Honorary Life Member and representative of the Cricket Conference and Cricket Board officially opened the new nets and computerised scorebox, a hard fought match with the Octopus touring side from North Enfield. This fixture was memorable for the appearance of Phil Newport who hit a fierce 85 before being caught by Gary Sandbrook off the leg spin of Nigel Rees who finished with three wickets.
