WEST MALVERN v ALFRICK
THE first meeting of these two clubs resulted in a win for West Malvern at Mathon Court on Bank Holiday Sunday.
Being an unknown quantity, West put Alfrick into bat and with a wicket falling to Steve Daly in the first over it seemed a good decision.
A partnership of 56 between D Cole (73), who top scored, and B Radcliffe (28) seemed to be forming the foundation of a good score but West Malvern's five young bowlers worked hard on a good batting surface to steadily reduce the visitors to 160 all out with S Daly 2-27, Andy Llewellyn 3-36 and Alex Hall 2-24.
In reply West Malvern put on an opening partnership of 62 in 16 overs.
They then lost Andy Dakin (23) with an unlucky run out.
This left Brian Pleass, with a magnificent 82 not out from 83 balls, and Richard Dudley (36) to form a match winning partnership of 81 in 13 overs which led West Malvern to a comfortable victory with over four overs to spare.
