A NUMBER of Worcestershire players came in for praise from Australia's vice-captain Adam Gilchrist after tourists wrapped up their 360-run win at New Road yesterday.

The Aussie wicketkeeper said: "I thought Anurag Singh looked very good in his first innings and very courageous stopping out there after copping one on the arm.

"Two or three younger guys have got a lot of potential and already seem to be serving the County well."

He added: "Worcester tried their hardest. They obviously had a few younger guys in which is fair enough to give them a bit of experience against a touring side."

Gilchrist also spelt out the tourists priorities in order after inflicting one of the heaviest defeats in Worcestershire's history.

Only once before had the County lost by a bigger margin of runs than their rout by 360 - but the World champions were more interested in the spin-offs from a one-sided contest which attracted bumper crowds.

Gilchrist said: "We are here for an enjoyable summer and a win is a win in any game of cricket.

"But I guess first and foremost it was great that all the guys have played - batsmen, bowlers and myself as keeper.

"It was really good to spend time out in the middle. Without doubt we get something out of a game like this.

"After our first two day's training, we were all very stiff, and there's only so much time that you can put into work in the nets and running round the practice field.

"The real benefits come with time in the middle and that's exactly what we got in this game.

"The time for preparation is becoming less and less between Test Matches and one-day games and at the start of tours.

"It's a fast moving game and its a fast-moving itinerary these days, and you have got to acclimatise as quickly as possible."
