THANK you R B Porter (You Say, May 29) for your letter in reply to Councillor Richard Udall in which you highlight your interpretation of what the main political parties stand for.

I enjoyed reading it more than the daily esoteric claptrap from George Cowley.

May I suggest that you read the party manifestos and get your facts straight. While not commenting in detail on your misleading letters, suffice to say that I agree that this government has increased the tax burden over this Parliament.

I'm delighted that it has been used to reduce the national debt which was a legacy of John Major's government.
