TONY Blair tells us that it is his ambition to be a leading player in Europe.
Presumably, he wants to become one of the unelected commissioners. Can one really blame him considering the power the job holds, the enormous salary one gets and, being unelected, responsible to no one!
I'd guarantee that Neil Kinnock ever blessed the day he failed to become Prime Minister but became a commissioner with excessively more money with unbelievable expenses on top and little responsibility.
One wonders, with the new Party of European Socialists (PES) now in operation, with our own Robin Cook as chairman, how long it will be before the EU becomes the EUSR - European Union of Socialist Republics with the unelected 20 being appointed commissars.
