IN reply to a recent letter from Peter Alcock, the unelected European bureaucrats are doing a good job but, of course, the main decision-making should be done by the European Parliaments, not by unelected people, no matter how qualified the latter may be.
There is no doubt that the basic idea of a "United State of Europe" is based on excellent principles. No doubt change will come quite soon and the Parliament of Europe will be the institution with power.
Change will not be difficult because the EU is composed of democratic entities. However, we shall have to make sure that future European elections are not rigged in the manner in which the recent Presidential election in the USA appears to have been fiddled in some areas, probably causing an incorrect overall result.
