WORCESTER City are to receive a civic reception at the Guildhall to celebrate their success in lifting the Dr Martens League Cup.
The St George's Lane team lifted the trophy in April for the first time in 61 years after defeating Crawley Town 4-1 on aggregate.
It was the club's first win in a national competition since 1979 and Worcester's Mayor, David Clark, has invited City boss, John Barton, and his players to a reception on Tuesday, June 26.
"It's a wonderful achievement for the city and I'm looking forward to meeting them individually and having a good bash for them," said Cllr Clark.
"I follow their progress with interest but unfortunately council and work commitments mean I don't often get the chance to see them."
For Barton it was recognition in the community of the club's achievement.
"The club has unfortunately not had much success in terms of winning things lately," he said.
"It has been through some lean times for a few years and obviously the Southern League Cup was valued by all the football club and it is nice to know it is valued outside the club within the city of Worcester."
The club's chairman, Dr Michael Sorensen, will be officially presented with the trophy at the Southern Football League's annual meeting in Eastbourne this weekend.
City landed the cup after a stunning 4-0 win at St George's Lane with two goals from Mark Shepherd, one from Jamie Hyde and an own goal. They lost the second leg 1-0 at Crawley.
The club's triumph was toasted in the House of Commons when Worcester's MP Mike Foster, a regular at the Lane, drafted an early day motion congratulating the team on their victory.
Meanwhile, Barton revealed he is on the brink of completing a new signing.
"I'm making good progress but it's a long drawn out procedure and the player in question has to speak to his current club before getting back to us," he said.
"I'm hopeful of at least one major announcement before the end of the week."
