KIDDERMINSTER Harriers chairman Lionel Newton has quashed talk of an imminent ground move and insisted: "We will only leave Aggborough on our terms."
Mr Newton, who took over the Harriers hot-seat two years ago, admitted he had been approached by a developer over relocation.
The tentative inquiry suggested green belt land at Hodge Hill, near Blakedown, for the club which is in its fourth year of a 50-year lease from Wyre Forest District Council on its Hoo Road base.
Mr Newton declared he would be prepared to move the Harriers under strict conditions, including ownership of the ground, but insisted nothing would come of the latest idea.
The club will push ahead with plans for a new stand on the Bill Greaves side of the ground as at least another 900 seats are needed inside two years to meet Football League criteria.
Mr Newton said: "Fans have been asking and there have been rumours around the town but I want to quash the idea.
"Yes, there has been a tentative inquiry by a developer and I would be prepared to move but my criteria has got to be met. I will put this club first, second and third.
"I would only move if a developer or the council is prepared to move us with no costs incurred and we would insist on a freehold.
"It's just not going to happen and if we did agree something, it would take three years to get the legislation through."
Harriers would also want a stadium with the required facilities and a training ground.
Much of the talk has been fuelled by plans for housing developments on Kidderminster College-owned land and the old cattle market near Aggborough.
Mr Newton added: "We will plough ahead with the improvements at Aggborough. With the amount of money we are spending there, it will make it hard for us to move anyway. I haven't approached anyone in this matter."
After millionaire Mr Newton took over and appointed former Liverpool midfielder Jan Molby as manager, Harriers was promoted from the Nationwide Conference last season.
The club has successfully made the switch to full-time football and is currently in a mid-table position in Division Three.
