STRUGGLING Victoria and Blakeley Hall were dealt a blow in Worcestershire League Division Three as they slipped to a 101-run defeat against Martley.

The third-from-bottom Vics were bowled out for 143 with 20 overs still to be bowled.

Playing at home, Martley batted first and amassed 244-9, their main contribution coming from D Hopkins (78) and D Scorer (56).

With his off-spin, Simon Cook took 4-56, returning the best bowling figures for Victoria.

In reply, although scoring quickly and well up with the required scoring rate at first, wickets fell at regular intervals.

Simon Gallagher (37) and James Rine (33) continued their good form with the bat.

The second teams met at Hoobrook where, again, Martley were the victors, this time by five wickets.

Victoria batted first and totalled 157-7, Adrian Miller (30) and Bob Webb (29no) the main contributors.

When Martley replied, they lost five early wickets but D Patrick and J Hones on 43no and 39no respectively saw their side home.
