TENNIS: Stourport ladies A team easily beat Ledbury 7-0 with Hilary Hatt and Carole Lewis keeping their 100 per cent record.

The other successful pairings were Sally Smith and Helen Bradley along with Zena Seer and Rhian Robinson.

The ladies now take a one-month break from competition in the Herefordshire and Worcestershire League.

The B team have had two close matches. Boughton beat Stourport on sets 4-3, though Hilary Kilby and Wendy Congrave won both their matches.

The only other win came from Rosie Williams and newcomer Isobel Moore.

The team fared better against Fladbury with a 3-3 draw with runners, sets and games all equal.

Williams and Moore won both their matches, while Kilby and Lindsay Wilson-Beech won one.

The men's A team have six matches from July 2, starting with a trip to Stourbridge.

Stourport will need a full squad to select from, having already lost to Bromsgrove.

It is hoped university students David Westhead and Phil Newbury will be in the squad along with Phil Lashford, taking time off from his duties as Stourport Hockey Club captain.

David and Kevin Grange, Carl Rogers, Bob Tarpey and Paul Richards will join the squad if available.
