FILM star Don Lockwood is played by Julian Richards, who seemed unusually uneasy at the start, but gained in confidence to become the excellent performer we are used to. He had a fall during the water routine, but just carried on.
Julian's wife, Wendy, was brilliant as Lina Lamont, using her comedy flair to the full, and brother Darren provided one of the highlights singing Beautiful Girl.
As Cosmo, the ever-reliable Chris Paine gave what must surely be his best performance to date, and Jill Parmenter was good as Kathy. They were joined by Julian for a superb Good Morning routine.
Ian Jones, as a diction teacher, was hilarious with Julian and Chris in Moses Supposes.
The special effects also star, from the silent movies to the wonderful "wet set" which features in that famous rain scene.
On the down side, the overture, played from behind the stage, was barely audible.
On until Saturday, Singin' in the Rain is worth a visit.
