DR Taylor poured scorn on accusations Health Concern was a single-issue party.
He said Health Concern district councillors, by far the largest party on the ruling coalition, had proved they could deal with a whole host of council issues.
He said: "We are not a single issue party and our councillors have proved that by running the council.
"As for myself, if I become MP I would listen to everybody who wants to make a case and do my best to sort it out and make representations to parliament and ministers on their behalf.
"I would not be subject to a party whip. The interests of constituents would be my only consideration."
He added: "I also believe it would be valuable for Wyre Forest to have someone who knows what is going on in the health service.
"The recent Alder Hay organs case is an example. The chief medical officer threw his hands up in horror as if it was all news to him. Yet any medical student after a few weeks in training will come across pots of organs in museums."
