I AM writing to appeal to your readers to support The Cancer Research Campaign's Foreign Coin collection.
Loose foreign coins, which are worthless in this country, are actually a potential pot of gold for funding a cure for cancer.
One of my jobs, as a holiday presenter on Wish You Were Here... ? often sends me abroad, which means I return home with a pocketful of loose foreign coins.
This is why I was so interested to hear about the Cancer Research Campaign's Foreign Coin Collection that is being supported by Lloyds TSB.
Holidaymakers
Like most holidaymakers who go abroad, I never knew just how important this small change could be.
But it seems there has never been a better time to clean out those cupboards, because with the introduction of euro coins and notes next January, some European currencies will become literally worthless.
Between now and February, 2002, simply take along any foreign coins into your local Lloyds TSB branch and deposit it in the collecting tins provided.
MARY NIGHTINGALE,
On behalf of the Cancer Research Campaign.
