The opera house pictured above was a prominent building on Comberton Hill. Standing on the former site of the Theatre Royal. Opened in 1891 it broadcast the first moving pictures to be seen in Kidderminster between live shows in 1896.
The Opera House opened in 1903 and later re-opened as The Playhouse in 1946 before finally closing in 1968 to make way for the development of the ring road.
Also pictured is part of the then tree-lined Comberton Hill. Pictured below is Comberton Hill as it now looks, the picture is taken looking up the hill towards the railway station.
