Harriers 0 Darlington 0

THERE was no shortage of attacking intent in Kidderminster Harriers' 4-3-3 formation but Jan Molby's side once again said "pants to goals".

Their defence has proved anything but charitable during the Comic Relief time of year -- yet scoring goals has been a problem.

Saturday's draw at home to Darlington made it three 0-0's in a row although that compares favourably with much of Harriers' form in 2001.

They made a bright start against relegation-threatened Darlo only to fail to either capitalise or build on the first 20 minutes of the match.

The game proved more entertaining than Tuesday's draw with Scunthorpe though that was not difficult.

Perhaps Harriers' best chance arrived after just nine minutes. Steve Harper's back-pass did on-loan visiting keeper Peter Keen no favours but his control was poor and Stewart Hadley nipped in.

Unfortunately, the eight-goal striker took his shot first-time and the ball rolled the wrong side of the post.

In the last minute of the game, the often uncomfortable Keen pulled off the save of the game, tipping over John Durnin's effort which had thudded into the turf and towards the top of the net.

But home keeper Tim Clarke was not redundant and he was forced into a few saves from a largely mediocre Darlington outfit.

Clarke was alert to catch Glenn Naylor's chip and then diverted Paul Campbell's 69th-minute drive over the bar.

With Tony Bird on the right-hand side of midfield, Harriers effectively had four strikers on the pitch striving to find the net.

Bird, Paul Webb and Dean Bennett all dug in manfully but they were lacking the killer pass of a Neil MacKenzie or Andy Ducros.

That is demonstrated by just two goals in the month of March.
