A WORCESTER woman has urged people to be on their guard after thieves smashed their way into her car as she tended her mother-in-law's grave.
Margaret Fenson had parked her blue Vauxhall car in Astwood Cemetery last Saturday at around noon when thieves struck.
"They smashed the passenger window and stole my handbag which was in the footwell," said Mrs Fenson.
"I was only away from the car for 10 minutes at the most and want to warn other people to be careful.
"They took my reading glasses, so I'm currently having to make do with my husband's, as well as credit cards and £8 in cash.
"I'm so upset about it. I know I shouldn't really have left it there but because I was only going to be such a short time I thought it'd be safe."
Mrs Fenson, who lives in the Kenwood Avenue area of the city, said she had reported the crime to police.
She also wants to thank the women at the cemetery who comforted her following the theft.
Anyone with information should call Worcester police on 01905 723888 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
