VIKRAM Solanki will captain a much-changed Worcestershire side for their three-day first-class friendly against Durham University Centre of Cricketing Excellence which gets underway at New Road tomorrow.
The County will be resting several of their 'big guns' and enabling Director of Cricket Tom Moody to run the rule over a number of up-and-coming youngsters.
Standing down are skipper Graeme Hick, Steve Rhodes, David Leatherdale, Stuart Lampitt and Andy Bichel who were all involved in Worcestershire's rain-ruined County Championship Division Two draw with Warwickshire.
Called up are Kadeer Ali, Nick Boulton, James Pipe, Kabir Ali and Chris Liptrot, who have all tasted first team action this season.
Moody said: "We want to have a look at them in a first-class situation. It's a good chance for them to show their wares."
Worcs: Weston, Singh, Solanki (capt.), Pollard, Kadeer Ali, Boulton, Pipe, Kabir Ali, Rawnsley, Liptrot, Sheriyar.
