JOHN Phillpott, God bless his cotton socks, writes (Evening News, June 12) "there are now many ordinary souls filled with apprehension about what the future may hold".

I often lie awake wondering what destiny has in store. Then I get up, make a mug of tea, wash my face in cold water, and sit on my balcony playing Classic Gold on my radio and gazing at the stars. Such is life.
