I would like to take John Phillpot to account (Philpott File, June 12).
He says New Labour is in power for the foreseeable future. I don't agree. At the recent election there was a very low turnout. If Tony Blair did something to upset the electorate and 10 per cent of those missing voters voted Conservative, plus five per cent of those who voted Labour, it would change.
The second issue is Europe. It is quite obvious the electorate is not scared by, or interested in Europe, because in the General Election, Labour and Lib Dems were for Europe. The Conservatives and UKIP were against.
The results speak for themselves. The UKIP must be very disappointed with their support, averaging about 1,000 votes in each constituency.
