FAMILIES fighting to improve a "forgotten estate" say officials do not support their hard work.

Chawson Residents' Association formed 18 months ago to enhance the area after claims it had become run down.

Members believe they have had a positive impact but association chairman Doris Bowdler still has a long list of requests.

Residents want:

* Regular litter collections;

* Frequent grass cutting and removal of cuttings;

* Knee high weeds to be removed;

* Double yellow lines on Padge-well Hill;

* Camp Hill underpass to be rid of graffiti and glass.

Mrs Bowdler said: "We ring Wychavon District Council and Worcestershire County Council to report complaints and staff either pass us to another department or don't return calls.

"We just want to know if the work can be done and when."

Association secretary Janet Jones added: "I moved here 34 years ago and the estate was beautiful.

"I love living on the edge of the countryside but I feel Chawson is the forgotten estate."

A Wychavon spokeswoman said grass cutting duties are shared between Wychavon, the county council and Spa Housing Association.

She believed the district council's section is up to scratch.

She added: "We would like to remind residents they can improve cleanliness of the area by using bins provided."

Both councils are responsible for the underpass.

Litter picks are carried out on a daily and weekly basis in different areas of Chawson.

A county council spokesman said the request for double yellow lines at Padgewell Hill is still under consideration.

He added: "Residents can seek help from the One-Stop Shop in Droitwich High Street, where county and district representatives are employed."
