A STANDARDS committee and 'ethical framework' is to be set up at Redditch Council as part of new Government legislation.
The standards include selflessness, openness, respect for others, honesty and integrity, accountability and a duty to uphold the law.
A report for councillors states: 'The conduct of everyone in local government, councillors and council employees, needs to be of the highest standard.
'The Government has proposed a new ethical framework which will provide clearer rules for councillors and officers and put in place a rigorous, impartial mechanism for tackling any infringements.'
Councillors will have to sign up to a code of conduct and a register of members' interests set up as part of the scheme which should be in place by the end of the summer.
