THE details of a major £700,000 programme to carry out work across Redditch under the Safer Routes to School initiative was announced last week.
Worcestershire County Council's highways unit for Redditch will be carrying out alterations to footpaths and roads across the town in an attempt to encourage children to walk to school.
The move, which has been given almost £1.5 million from the Government over two years, follows a huge consultation exercise with parents, pupils, and teachers from Redditch schools.
Last week, a scheme to widen the footpath at the junction of Feckenham Road and High Street was started as part of the initiative.
