I WOULD like to explain to senior citizens in the Wythall area what concessions are now available to them to assist with public transport costs and car parking charges.
Travel concessions on local bus services enable free travel on single fares up to £1.20 and return fares up to £1.85. Over these amounts, the pass holder pays the additional cost up to £2.40 single and £3.70 return fares. Thereafter the concession is a simple 50 per cent. All disabled persons receive the same concessions irrespective of their age.
Residents who would rather travel within the West Midlands on buses or trains from Wythall or Earlswood stations may opt to purchase a Centro senior citizens pass at a special price of £88 per annum, instead of having the council's own travel permit. This may be of considerable benefit to working women or men over the age of 60 or 65 respectively.
Senior citizens and disabled persons are also able to benefit from a free car park permit covering all Bromsgrove council car parks, in addition to having a bus pass. This enables free parking subject to time limits in the short-stay car parks.
I would be pleased to explain these concessions in greater detail if anyone wishes to contact me.
