LIGHTNING wiped out Redditch fire station's emergency message system on Friday.
But fire chiefs say it takes no longer to respond to calls even though crews have had to return to the 'old fashioned' system of waiting by the telephone.
Redditch fire station's texting system, whereby messages are received from central office, went down when the aerial was struck by lightning on Friday afternoon.
