WORCSTERSHIRE paceman Alamgir Sheriyar took his tally of first-class wickets to 32 this season by picking up two early scalps against Durham UCCE at New Road today.

James Rowe was the first man to go for one after he had launched the visitors innings with Michael Brown.

Lively Sheriyar, operating from the Diglis end, conceded a boundary to Brown in his opening over which also included a no-ball.

Rowe opened his account with a single off Kabir Ali. It proved to be his only scoring shot before he shouldered arms to Sheriyar and had his leg stump knocked out.

He was replaced by skipper Matthew Banes who got off the mark by clipping Sheriyar to the rails.

He had moved on to 10 when Sheriyar had him caught in the slips by captain Vikram Solanki, leaving the score on 33-2 in the 13th over.

The County were skippered by Solanki for the first time with Graeme Hick, Steve Rhodes, Andy Bichel, David Leatherdale and Stuart Lampitt all being rested.

Drafted in were youngsters Kadeer Ali, Mick Boulton, James Pipe, Chris Liptrot, Kabir.

For the University side it was their third first-class outing against county opposition, having drawn with Durham and Lancashire.
