WORCESTER City's footballers will arrive by open-top bus for a civic reception at the Guildhall in honour of their Dr Martens League Cup victory.

The bus will proceed from St George's Lane to the reception, which will be held next Tuesday (June 26) at 5.45pm, and every schoolchild in the city has been invited to attend the celebrations, which are being hosted by Worcester's Mayor, Councillor David Clark.

Worcester beat Crawley Town 4-1 on aggregate in a two-leg final to win the trophy for the first time in 61 years. The victory was the club's first in a national competition since 1978-79.

"All of us at the club are so proud to have won this trophy and it is great that the city is formally recognising our achievement," said club chairman Dr Michael Sorensen.
