ALMOST hidden away at the bottom of an inside page of your issue dated Wednesday June 13, under heading "Refuse collection changes" was an item regarding the council's proposal to compel householders to carry their refuse out to the edge of the highway for collection.
This will no doubt make it easier for the refuse collectors, but for the elderly and infirm, such an obligation would make it a great hardship.
I would be unable to carry out our bin to the highway since I have a heart condition and I am sure the council would not expect my wife to do so.
At the moment, we meet the council half way, and as I know of no law requiring householders to carry out their refuse, I would like to retain the status quo with the refuse collectors continuing to do their excellent job.
I trust some of your readers may agree with this.
A R JOHNSON, Worcester.
