THERE were some good performances from Bromsgrove Swimming Club's second team in a friendly at the Dolphin Centre last weekend.

The gala was an unusual one for cut off times, with anyone swimming faster gaining a 'speeding ticket' and possibly a personal best time, but collecting no points for the team.

As well as giving a chance to those on the fringe of first team selection, it also gives a few first teamers the chance to swim 'off stroke' or up in higher age groups.

Nicola Bannister won the girls 50m breaststroke early on, which was quickly followed by the 14-year-old team of Alison Bayley, Jennifer Fleeman, Zoe Brawn and Amy Hatton in the freestyle relay.

Sophie Andrews won more breaststroke success for the ten-year-olds, quickly followed by a freestyle relay team.

This time the 12-year-old girls team of Bannister, Emily Luke, Camilla Roome and Olivia Alton took the honours for coming home in front.

Simon Smith and Amanda Swann went too fast in the open butterfly and freestyle respectively, a fate also suffered by previous winners Fleeman, Luke, Roome and Hatton, as Bromsgrove began to lose a few points miscalculating how fast these swimmers could go.

Neil Maisey brought the club top points by winning the 12 year butterfly, as did Felix Turner for the same age group in freestyle.

Jenny Fleeman then won the open breaststroke before brother Richard won the ten years freestyle for boys.

Bromsgrove's final win of the night saw Alton, Roome, Bannister and Luke win the medley relay for the 12- year-old girls to secure the relay double.
