BROMSGROVE Rugby Club's senior section enjoyed a good season and are well placed to achieve even more next season.
The First XV finished a creditable third in the Midlands Two West League and, but for some narrow defeats, may have won promotion.
The North Midlands Cup Final win against Newport at Stourbridge was an exceptionally good result, despite team selection problems proving the club has strength in depth.
Congratulations to all, especially team captains, managers, coaches and all the stalwart players who turned out regularly.
The club was fortunate to overcome fixture problems prompted by the most unfortunate foot-and- mouth outbreak, with arrangements and only lost one Saturday because of adverse ground conditions.
Relatively few of the original fixtures needed replacing, although there were replacements for some cancellations by other club teams, not sought because of Bromsgrove's own player selection difficulties.
The new season's league fixtures are not available and, consequently, no arrangements are yet made.
The club have been informed of early season dates for the RFU Cup (latterly the Tetley Bitter Cup) as Saturday August 25 (pre-qualification round) and Saturday September 1 (preliminary round).
The former is regrettably during the summer holiday weekend.
