BROMSGROVE High Street will fly the flags for Saturday's annual fair day extravaganza and the carnival parade the following week, thanks to your No.1 community paper, the Advertiser/Messenger.
We asked Bromsgrove District Council why brightly coloured bunting, traditionally strung across the street in May for Bromsgrove Festival and left for the fair and carnival celebrations, was conspicuously missing this year.
A few calls to the council ultimately revealed the reason.
The head of performance and technical services, John Moody, said: "Unfortunately they appear to have been overlooked."
But, on Monday he called to tell us he hoped to arrange to get the flags put up in double quick time to brighten up the town for this Saturday's fair day and street market.
