THE manager of a Rubery shop has described her "horrendous" ord-eal as she saw vivid flashes of lightning strike a house
During Friday afternoon's storm Mandy Killeen was walking up the driveway which runs between her shop, Market Gardens, in Beverley Road, and a house.
As she approached the top of the path she saw the roof of the house struck by lightning which then travelled to the shop where a colleague and customer were.
Three youngsters were also in the house but no-one was seriously hurt, just shocked.
The house was left with a badly damaged roof.
Mandy told the Advertiser/Messenger: "I'm not quite sure what I saw -- it happened so fast. It was horrendous."
Another house in Callowbrook Lane was also struck moments later.
