REDDITCH Skate Park has suffered another setback after vandals broke in and set fire to a ramp two weeks before the venue's first major exhibition.
The cruel timing left organisers of the 'Relaxed Jam' event shocked and angry.
Redditch Council skate park liaison officer Neal Stote said the vandals had broken through a fence and started the fire under a large 'roll-in' ramp using plastic crates.
The fire had spread upwards and left severe damage to the surface of the ramp and safety rails, which could cost about £1,000 to repair.
To replace the whole ramp would cost about £5,000 but Mr Stote is hoping the damage can be repaired.
