THERE was disappointment when Kidderminster's crunch lowly Birmingham and District Premier League clash with Coventry and North Warwicks was abandoned.
Friday's deluge of rain and the resulting ground inspection meant not one ball was bowled.
Fourth-from-bottom Kidderminster needed the points but there was some relief as well as skipper Mark Mansell pointed out.
Mansell said: "Coventry are one of the sides below us and so we had a good chance of a result.
"But we lost a couple of players just before the start anyway in Mark Sellek and Chris Liptrot who was 12th man for Worcestershire.
"Coventry had a few drop out as well but when their manager was wondering whether it was worth travelling over, I said don't bother. There was water lying all over the pitch."
Expected replacements Amit Sharma and the returning Richard Wilkinson were not given the chance to shine.
Kidderminster's Worcestershire Sunday League clash with Barnt Green also fell foul of the weather.
They hope to get started in the competition with a visit to Stourbridge on Sunday (2pm).
Fixtures, Saturday: Knowle and Dorridge v Kidderminster 1sts (1pm), 2nds v Knowle and Dorridge (1.30pm), 3rds v Cape Hill Victoria (2pm).
Sunday: Stourbridge v 1sts (2pm), 2nds v Swindon (2pm). Monday: U-16s v Pedmore (6.30pm).
