AN American flag from Worcester's twin city was today being hung in the Guildhall after a brief stint flying above one of America's most famous institutions.
The Stars and Stripes spent a day on top of the Capitol building in Washington DC before its journey across the Atlantic as a gift to Worcester.
Now it will stay in the Faithful City as a mark of the growing bond with Worcester, Massachusetts. It will take pride of place in the Mayor's Parlour alongside a Union flag and a United Nations flag.
The star spangled banner was provided by Rotarians in Worcester, Mass, following a request by last year's Mayor, Mary Drinkwater.
The group asked United States Congress member James McGovern if the flag could be flown above the Capitol building.
A certificate accompanying the flag confirmed this took place on Tuesday, May 15 - the day current Mayor, Coun David Clark, was officially installed into office.
