RUNNING: Athletes will be vying for a coveted Wyre Forest title on Sunday after organisers rallied against the foot and mouth crisis.
The annual Wyre Forest marathon had to be cancelled due to the outbreak - but a half-marathon has taken its place.
With entries topping the 200 mark, organisers believe their efforts should turn into a success.
The race leaves the Wyre Forest visitor centre in Callow Hill from 11am and returns to the same venue.
Promoters Amazing Feet Running Club plan to make a charity donation with cash raised from the race and from February's Rock Fencing eight-miler.
One of the organisers, Martin Childe, said: "We've got one guy from Canada and another is coming over from South Africa so it's a bit of an international field.
"There are also runners from as far as Liverpool and Exeter. We're very happy with the turn-out."
Runners wishing to take part in the Denmans and Elysia-sponsored race need to contact Childe on 01299 403432 or Craig Freeman on 01299 823195.
