VOLLEYBALL: Cleobury Mortimer Volleyball Club raised more than £2,000 for Shrewsbury Hospital's neo-natal ward with a fun tournament and 24-hour volley-thon.
They decided to raise money to support the ward which helped Leah Brookes, daughter of club coach Carl and wife Becky.
The youngster was born 16 weeks premature with only a 15 per cent chance of survival but is now fit and healthy, weighing 7lbs 11oz.
Twelve teams, mostly inexperienced, entered the fun tournament and Volleyball Old Boys won the Bristow Sports cup.
Clee Hill Rugby Club were second and Cleobury Mortimer Rugby Club third, while Lacon Childe School was awarded spirit of the tournament.
The volleyball club's Lyndsey Rankin said: "We would like to thank everyone who made a donation, sponsored the club and participated as well as South Shropshire District Council for use of their facilities."
