MOTOR SPORT: Prolific speed king Chad Yarranton is showing no sign of slowing down after winning in the first round of the National Motocross Small-wheel 85cc Championship.

Sporting a new Kawasaki KX85, the Stourport 13-year-old blew away the opposition at Finningley, near Doncaster, at the weekend.

Yarranton was the fastest of 40 qualifiers from an initial 80 riders and went on to win all three races on the night.

Delighted father Buster declared: "It was absolutely fantastic and he won them with ease to be honest.

"The first was by 12 seconds, the second by 10 and the last one by 21 seconds. It was quite hard as there were 80 of the best riders in England in his class.

"Fingers crossed, he carries it on through the next four rounds. But the next one is not until July 21 and 22 up north.

"The bike is running well. In fact, you can't fault it at all, it's the best he's ever had. Now we have the rider and the bike!"

Yarranton is racing in the 12 to 13 age group for the final year and is showing plenty of promise after winning the British 80cc Supercross Championship.

His father also had praise for his Stourport school, Windmill Middle.

Buster added: "They have backed him 100 per cent and show a lot of interest. Chad does talks at school about what he's been doing and I'd like to thank them for their support."
