WORCESTERSHIRE made a good start to the season at Moseley Golf Club.
The Worcestershire First Team County Golfers secured a 10-5 victory over Shropshire and Herefordshire.
Two of the morning foursomes matches were close, finishing on the 18th, but Worcestershire took a narrow 3-2 lead to the singles.
Captain Paul Scarrett (Blackwell) led with a 5 &4 victory.
Wins were also secured by Craig Moss (Evesham), Lee Richardson (Worcester), Jon Rose (Kidderminster), Alan Sykes (Cleobury Mortimer) and Alan Robinson (Blackwell).
Richard Wassell (Kidderminster) and Charles Smith (Moseley) won halves to give a singles result of 7-3.
Worcestershire play the next round on July 8, against Warwickshire.
