LOUISE Green produced an impressive four-over-par 77 to win the Worcestershire Junior Girls Championships at Redditch Golf Club.

The 11-year-old, who plays off a handicap of 26, is a member of Worcester Golf and Country Club at Boughton Park and has been playing for three years.

She fired a four-over-par front nine and pared the back nine before taking 51 in the afternoon nine holes to shoot a 27 hole total of 128 and victory by two shots.

Louise and her sister, Zara, 14, both play for the county and are hoping to land a place in the forthcoming England Junior Championships.

Meanwhile three players from Worcester Golf and Country Club played the Sawgrass Golf Club in America and pared the famous 17th Island Green.

The Florida course hosts the Tournament Players Championship, which is regarded as the fifth major on the golfing circuit.

The green is surrounded by water and is regarded as one of the most difficult in world golf.

Scratch golfer, Lee Richardson, Phil Campbell and Sammy Woodward, all members of the Boughton Park county team, played the hole to memorable effect.

They each notched par on the par three hole to match the feat of previous winners such as Tiger Woods and Greg Norman.

Lee managed to go round in six over gross.

Duncan MacPherson took the 36 hole club championship with a four-over-par total of 144.

The victory was a particularly enjoyable one for Duncan who has managed second place on a couple of occasions.
