IN response to Mr Mike Parker of Grange Cottage, Sedgeberrow, comments regarding our War Memorial in Bidford-on-Avon.
I would like to reply on behalf of the 'old fogies' that he affectionately calls the Ex Servicemen that fought so that he could run them down, for trying to protect a memorial to their fallen comrades who gave their lives so that he and others could always have the freedom to air their views.
It is only right and proper that we should not forget the sacrifice that they made. Perhaps he would like to extend an open invitation to the young boarders to practise their skills on his property, or better still, his parents or relations memorial, as I'm sure, as he says, they would not think they were being disrespectful but just exercising their skills.
The problem that old fogies see, is that the younger generation do not have respect for the things that the older generation are passing down to them for safe keeping, which is very sad.
MR R ROOKE, Hon Sec, The Royal British Legion, Bidford-on-Avon Branch.
