MY husband, Philip Roy Stanley, Army No 23482466, joined the 1st Battalion The Worcestershire Regiment on June 26 1956.
He spent several months in Germany then his battalion went to British Guyana for 18 months, then he went to Jamaica late 1958 - March 1960 when he came back to Norton Barracks, Worcestershire. My husband always said he would like to meet up with the lads he had joined up with and especially one of his mates from Birmingham who was only doing National Service.
My husband came from Salford Priors between Evesham and Stratford-on-Avon. Most of his brothers, sisters and family still live there.
We both met in Jamaica Christmas 1958. I came over to England in August 1960 and we got married June 24 1961 at Snitterfield, Warwickshire. We then moved to Portsmouth, Hants in June 1963.
I do hope that this gets into your paper and that some of my husband's ex-service pals will contact him especially as it will be our Ruby wedding anniversary soon.
I met some of his pals in Jamaica, they used to call him 'Stan' and I was called 'Jean' and had a younger sister who married a Hampshire man and they also live in Portsmouth.
