FORMER Stourport publican Gail Salisbury has been told to pay £1,645 compensation for damaging her ex-husband's car.
Kidderminster magistrates gave her a conditional discharge for a year when she admitted causing the damage to the Vectra car after heavy drinking at a bonfire night party last November.
Salisbury, 32, formerly of the Holly Bush pub and now living in Prospect Road, Stourport, told the court she had been knocked down and kicked by husband Martin Shannon as she was leaving the pub to go to a club.
He had broken her nose in a previous assault but they had been reconciled and were living together after his promise there would be no more violence.
She said: "We should not have got back together but I loved the man and I could not believe the way he treated me."
Salisbury had kicked the wing of the car, used a key to scratch paintwork and damaged the controls on the steering column, said prosecutor Alex Warren.
