WITH the resounding success of our Health Concern candidate in being elected to parliament and the clearly overwhelming support for emergency services to be returned to our local hospital, it would seem vital that we turn our attention to an urgent review of the proposed, untested, ambulatory care unit.
The work for this is expected to commence in the autumn and will prevent, by its configuration, any return of in-patient services.
Surely the estimated cost of £14 million for gutting E block, which the area health authority appear hell-bent on pushing through, would be far better spent in restoring locally the essential emergency services that we all crave for.
