WHEN the foot and mouth crisis is officially declared over in the area, I trust that politicians concerned with the current anti-litter campaign will use their good offices to ensure that the litter which defaces the entrances of our footpaths, bridleways, other rights of way and public open spaces (or nature reserves) is speedily removed.

Without some pressure from the local population and their elected representatives this litter will probably remain for some considerable time, giving rise to problems in determining whether access is permitted or not.

Its removal should be a high priority as and when rights of way are once again available.
