FORWARD-THINKING Kidderminster Carolians Rugby Club are preparing a Lottery bid to help finance plans for new changing rooms.

The Midlands Three West (North) outfit opened their impressive new clubhouse last season in Marlpool Lane and it has been well received.

On the playing front, KCs expect a stronger league for 2001/2002 after finishing strongly at the end of last season.

Old friends Bridgnorth have been promoted with Dixonians, while Selly Oak and free-falling Lichfield are relegated to join them.

Lichfield were in the same division as Stourbridge and Preston Grasshoppers a few years ago but have been relegated for the past three seasons.

However, KCs hope to strengthen with some new signings on the horizon though they must avoid the catalogue of injuries suffered in the past.

While action on the pitch is still two months off, the club, who hold their annual meeting on July 5, have been busy with two new ventures.

A ladies team has recently started training from 12 noon on Sundays and 16 players are already involved.

KCs also intend to run a colts side on Saturday and Pete Hill is set to be appointed chairman of the section.

Hill is always looking for 16 or 17-year-olds to recruit for the team. He can be contacted on 01562 850162.
