THIS year's concert which comprised part of Kidderminster Carnival celebrations featured the music of Cole Porter.
It was good to hear those great songs, including some which are only performed rarely such as Miss Otis Regrets and Love For Sale, both sung beautifully by Claire Worboys, accompanied by Brian Hadley on piano.
I particularly enjoyed Jonathan Darby's rendition of Don't Fence Me In and John Hutton was also on form, especially in So In Love and What Is This Thing Called Love?
However, the orchestra, though playing most of their own items well, drowned out the soloists by playing much too loudly, and when John sang Now You Has Jazz with a small group, we could not hear him at all.
I also wish that compere Peter Tomlinson would stick to the subject of the evening, and stop plugging his own enterprises.
The concert was in aid of the carnival, not a radio programme.
