SATURDAY'S Cotswold Hills League programme was completely washed out as the heavy showers prevented even the remotest chance of play across the locality.

And, it was a similar tale of woe across other leagues as frustrated players at most venues were forced to leave their whites in their bags.

Only two matches survived in the Worcestershire County League, league leaders Stratford were left kicking their heels in the Birmingham League Premier Division, while grounds at Moreton, Adlestrop and Bourton Vale were all unable to take the deluge.

Sunday saw several matches played to a finish with the annual president's match at Broadway providing plenty of good cricket for the spectators.

Clubs will be hoping for drier conditions this weekend when a quartet of Cotswold Hills League clubs will be bidding to get off the mark.

Premier Division newcomers Earlswood have so far lost all six matches and they will be hoping for a change in fortune at home to mid table Overbury.

Claverdon and Winchcombe's second string have also six straight defeats against their name and home matches against Shipston and Stanway respectively offer both the chance to get off the mark.

Basement side, Hockley, aren't yet faring quite as badly, having played and lost four matches and they will fancy their chances of breaking their duck when they play host to fellow fifth division strugglers Ashton-u-Hill, who themselves have lost four of their five games.

Stratford Bards are the only side boasting a 100 per cent record in terms of points and wins but they will face a tough test against old foes Stratford, who overcame fancied Alcester and Ragley last time out in Division One.

The top match in the Premier Division takes leaders Bidford to Broadway, while third plays top in Division Five when Eckington entertain Twyning.
